Eyes and Buttons

Brad and I do a date night every two weeks or so, but for some reason, going to the movies is never on the list of things to do.  Brad actually hadn't been to the movies since Jackass 2 in Dallas.  Can you believe that??? Anyway, we broke the chain and went to see Benjamin Button.  It was one of those life changing movies for me, meaning I view life a little bit differently since I have seen it.  Totally, incredibly, amazing!!!  I cried for half the movie ,and after it was over I had to sit for 15 minutes to compose myself.  I haven't done that since the movie Dear Frankie (which please see this movie, also awesome).  The movie also affected Brad and we couldn't even discuss it for a while after seeing it without getting emotional.  I asked him, "Why did it affect you so much?" And he said, "Everything is different now since Drew came."  Aww so few words but so much meaning :)  I especially loved how NOLA was portrayed.  No Voodoo Queens visits for something New Orleans related.  Now that is a first!

Yesterday was also time to do something we hadn't in a while - go to the eye doctor.  Now this was a new doctor because we had very many problems with the staff of the old one.  And yes I was extremely confrontational because I had to be :)  A very long story for another day......
Anyway, this new doc did something I had never seen done before - He took my contacts out of my eyes himself.  Usually you go in and tell them what you can see with your contacts then you take them out and go on with the rest of the exam.  This doctor actually washed his hands and took out my contacts for me.  I was glad because after 2 years, I still suck at taking out my contacts and I am very embarrassed about my lack of skill.  Brad on the other hand is a pro and he said he felt really violated.  I guess after thinking about it, it is weird.  Has anyone else had this happen before?  Anyway, I am convinced that all eye doctors are nut jobs.  This is my third one, and they are all on the strange side.  Brad only had one that he liked but he was in Plano and boy did we pay for his sanity.  I used to say his office was The Castle because we paid for king service when Brad went there.

Today I am getting my haircut and I am thinking of doing something different.  Maybe going shorter than usual?  I don't know if I will chicken out at the last minute.  I just want something to represent my new attitude for 09 :)

I agree with every one else. Totally "ugh" on having the eye doctor take them out. Maybe next time you can sit back and say that you really prefer to take them out yourself.

*** SPOILER ALERT -- STOP READING IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN BENJAMIN BUTTONS ***

Can you ask Brad what he would have done if he were Benjamin Buttons? Would he have left his child at the age of 2 like Benjamin did? I still can't understand why he did that, but like Jen, I don't have kids either, so I probably don't fully understand his actions.
